What we're building, and why

The 3D pipelines used by mid-size studios — typically 50 to 300 seats, often serving Western clients from outsourcing markets — have a recurring tension. The toolset their artists are trained on is mature and capable, but its commercial structure has shifted toward annual subscriptions whose pricing increasingly outpaces studio billing realities. Open-source alternatives are excellent, but they ask for a different kind of cost: months of artist retraining, scripts rewritten, pipeline re-plumbed.

Kimiyaa is an attempt at a third option. A platform that respects the workflow studios are already fluent in — the hotkeys, the file formats, the script style, the plugin patterns — while running on a foundation that doesn't carry the same commercial overhead. Our priority order is: compatibility for trained artists first, pricing predictability second, on-prem AI options for NDA-bound studios third.

We're not a replacement for the major incumbents in the abstract. We're a specific bet on a specific kind of studio, with a specific set of constraints, doing a specific kind of work. If your studio fits that picture, we want to scope a pilot with you.
